Set a layer status

Add a short status and progress marker beneath a layer in the navigator.

A layer status lets collaborators see whether work is active, blocked, under review, or done. Set it from a terminal on that layer.

Update the status

  1. Open a terminal on the layer whose status you want to change.
  2. Run mao layer status with a state, for example mao layer status --state review.
  3. Add a progress fraction with --progress 3/5 if useful, or use --clear to remove the status.
  4. Reopen the navigator to see the status beneath the layer.
NoteAvailable states are working, blocked, review, and done. You can include a one-line status message.
LimitChanging another layer’s status requires Orchestrator access. blocked and review mark the layer as needing attention.
