Lock nodes in place

Keep a node’s position and size from changing during canvas edits.

Updated 1 min read

Locking protects a node’s position and size while you work around it. You can still select, focus, type into, and connect a locked node.

Terminal context menu showing Lock position and Ctrl plus L
Choose Lock position from the node menu, or use Ctrl + L on Windows and Linux.

Lock or unlock a node

  1. Select one or more nodes.
  2. With the canvas focused, press Ctrl + L on Windows or Linux, or Cmd + L on macOS. You can also choose Lock in the command palette or Lock position from a node’s context menu.
  3. To unlock, use the same shortcut or choose Unlock in the palette or Unlock position from the node menu.
TipIf a selection contains both locked and unlocked nodes, the toggle locks all of them. If every selected node is locked, the toggle unlocks them all.
LimitA focused terminal uses Ctrl + L to clear its screen. Locked nodes cannot be moved, resized, or deleted; a bulk delete is refused if any selected node is locked.
