# Reopen saved workspace state

Return to your canvases and persistent content after quitting MAO.

MAO saves workspace content locally, including canvas layouts, nodes, notes, and connections. Reopen the workspace from the navigator when you return.

## Reopen your workspace

1. Launch MAO and choose the workspace and canvas you want in the navigator.
2. To keep background workspaces running when you switch away or quit, open Settings and enable **Keep workspaces alive**.
3. Reopen the canvas later from its row in the navigator.

> **Limit:** Undo history and viewport movement are not restored. Terminal processes restart when you reopen; MAO does not resurrect the old process.
