# Paste safely into a terminal

Review a risky multi-line paste before it reaches a terminal program.

MAO holds some terminal pastes for confirmation so pasted lines do not run as soon as they arrive. Review the text before sending it to the program.

## Paste into a terminal

1. Paste with <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> + <kbd>V</kbd> on Windows, <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> + <kbd>Shift</kbd> + <kbd>V</kbd> on Linux, or <kbd>Cmd</kbd> + <kbd>V</kbd> on macOS. You can also use the node menu or middle-click to paste the primary selection.
2. If MAO shows a paste card, choose **Paste** or press <kbd>Enter</kbd> to confirm.
3. Choose **Cancel** or press <kbd>Escape</kbd> to discard the held paste.

> **Limit:** A multi-line paste without bracketed-paste support waits for confirmation. A lone carriage return also counts as a line break. Pasting returns the terminal view to the bottom.
