# Handle terminal clipboard requests

Review clipboard reads requested by terminal programs and control access.

Terminal programs can use OSC 52 to write the clipboard or request clipboard text. MAO asks before giving a program access to read it.

## Respond to a clipboard request

1. When the clipboard card appears, review the text the program would receive.
2. Choose **Allow** to answer the read request with the displayed clipboard text, or **Deny** to refuse it.
3. The terminal applies OSC 52 clipboard writes from the program.

> **Limit:** Pressing <kbd>Enter</kbd> never approves a clipboard read. A held paste from you takes priority over a program’s read request.
