# Choose notification sources

Choose whether routines, agents, or layers can notify you.

MAO can notify you about routine runs, agent requests, and layer attention. Each source has a separate setting.

## Choose notification sources

1. Open **Settings** and choose **Notifications**.
2. Turn **Notify when a routine fires** on or off.
3. Set **Allow agents to notify you** and **Notify when a layer needs you** as needed.

> **Note:** Agent notifications are off by default. Terminal attention notices include the node title and a fixed reason label, never terminal output.

> **Limit:** Agent notification delivery is unavailable on Windows.
