# Work with connected notes from the CLI

List, read, and append to notes that a terminal is explicitly connected to.

A connected terminal can use MAO’s bridge to read and append to a note. The connection grants access only to that note.

## Read or append a note

1. Connect the agent terminal to the note on the canvas.
2. In that terminal, run `mao note list` to see available connected notes.
3. Run `mao note read <note>` to read one, or `mao note append <note> <content>` to add text.
4. Refresh the open note view if needed; MAO reconciles bridge appends with the editor.

> **Limit:** Notes and individual append requests are limited to 1 MiB. MAO keeps storage paths private. An edit to the shared prefix stays in the editor and is surfaced as a conflict rather than overwritten.
