# Stack notes into a binder

Collect notes in a tabbed binder while keeping each note as its own item.

A binder groups notes into one tabbed canvas node while preserving each note’s identity. You can create one from a selection or file notes into an existing binder.

## Create and use a binder

1. Select the notes you want to collect.
2. Choose **Stack notes into a binder** from the palette or press <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> + <kbd>Shift</kbd> + <kbd>B</kbd> on Windows/Linux or <kbd>Cmd</kbd> + <kbd>Shift</kbd> + <kbd>B</kbd> on macOS.
3. Click a tab to show that note. Use **+** to add another note.
4. Drag a note onto the binder to file it there.
5. To manage a tab, secondary-click it and choose **Rename**, **Unstack**, or **Delete**.

> **Note:** Deleting a binder releases its notes onto the canvas instead of deleting them.

> **Limit:** A binder created automatically from a stack disappears when emptied. A deliberately created empty binder remains.
