# Create and edit Markdown notes

Add a note node, write Markdown, and let MAO save the note locally.

A note is a local Markdown file shown as a node on your canvas. Select it to edit; when you leave it unselected, its card previews the opening lines.

## Add a note

1. Choose **New note** from the canvas controls.
2. Place the note on the canvas.
3. Select it and type your Markdown content.
4. Click another node or empty canvas when you are done; MAO saves edits to the note file.

> **Note:** The note editor styles Markdown as you type; it does not have separate raw and rendered modes.

> **Limit:** If another process changes the same note, MAO preserves your local edits when the shared text has changed and surfaces the conflict instead of overwriting them.
