# Land a layer into Ground

Check a layer and merge or fast-forward its branch into Ground.

Landing brings a layer’s Git branch into Ground after MAO checks the worktree and destination. Review the checks before confirming the change.

## Land a layer

1. Switch to Ground.
2. Open the layer row menu and choose **Land…**, or choose **Land layer: <name>…** from the palette.
3. Review the checks and destination branch in the landing sheet.
4. Enable **Keep the layer** only if you want to keep it after landing.
5. Choose **Land** to proceed.

> **Note:** An Orchestrator can use `mao layer land "<name>"` from Ground.

> **Limit:** MAO checks for conflicts and uncommitted changes first. By default the layer is archived after landing.
