# Switch canvas drawing tools

Choose Select, Rectangle, Pen, Label, or Text from the tool rail or keyboard.

The tool rail groups drawing actions under **Draw and more**. With the canvas focused, you can also select a tool with its shortcut.

## Choose a tool

1. Press <kbd>V</kbd> for Select, <kbd>R</kbd> for Rectangle, <kbd>P</kbd> for Pen, <kbd>L</kbd> for Label, or <kbd>T</kbd> for Text.
2. Or open **Draw and more** on the rail and choose a tool.
3. Press <kbd>Escape</kbd> to return to Select.

> **Limit:** Tool shortcuts work only when the canvas owns focus. Terminals and text inputs receive their own keys.
