# Getting started checklist

Learn MAO by completing five real actions on the canvas.

The checklist tracks five first actions and marks each one when you complete it on the canvas. It stays out of the way until you open it.

## Work through the checklist

1. Open the command palette and choose **Getting started checklist**.
2. Complete the listed actions: **Place an agent**, **Send it a first task**, **Add a note and connect it**, **Have one agent ask another**, and **Open a layer for a branch**.
3. When you are done, choose the chevron to collapse the card, or choose **Hide** or **Done** to hide it. Open **Getting started checklist** in the palette any time to return.

> **Tip:** A row can show you the next action, but clicking it does not complete the step. The action itself must succeed.

> **Limit:** Hiding the checklist does not clear its progress. The checklist first appears after the welcome closes, unless you open it from the palette earlier.
