# First-run welcome
Set up the app’s appearance and preferences, then open a project and meet your first agent.
The first-run welcome introduces MAO and lets you choose a look and a few preferences. Some screens appear only during a trial or on the first launch.
## Complete the welcome
1. Read **Welcome** and choose **Continue**.
2. On **Choose your look**, select **System**, **Light**, or **Dark**. Set **Reduce motion** if you prefer, then choose **Continue**.
3. On **Almost ready**, review sound, the launch update check, keeping workspaces alive, and crash reports. Choose **Continue**.
4. Follow the trial or project screen if it appears. On the first launch, you can enter a workspace name, choose a Git repository, and select **Open project**.
5. On **Your first agent**, review the shortcuts for adding an agent, then choose **I'm ready**.
> **Tip:** Press Enter to continue. Press Left or Backspace to go back, or Escape to choose **Skip setup**.
> **Limit:** The project screen appears on the first launch, and the trial screen appears only during a trial. The welcome cannot set up a remote project.
