# Read and update a connected note

Grant one terminal access to a note and use the bridge to read or append content.

A terminal-to-note connection lets that terminal list, read, and append to the selected note. MAO handles the note’s storage path behind the scenes.

## Grant note access

1. Connect the terminal to the note on the canvas.
2. Run `mao note list` in the connected terminal.
3. Use `mao note read <note>` to read it or `mao note append <note> <content>` to add text.
4. Check the note node to see the appended content.

> **Note:** Appends are atomic, and open note views reconcile them with their current text.

> **Limit:** Access is limited to notes explicitly connected to that terminal. Note text and an individual append are limited to 1 MiB; storage paths are not exposed.
