# Use a structured ACP chat

Enable ACP chat for a supported provider and hand the provider session between chat and terminal.

ACP chat uses an agent’s structured Agent Client Protocol session while keeping its provider session available to the terminal view. The setting is off until you enable it.

## Turn on ACP chat

1. Open **Settings** and enable **Chat over ACP (beta)**.
2. Enable the row for the provider you want to use.
3. Select an eligible agent node and choose **Chat**.
4. If the agent asks for permission, choose an option on the permission card. Choose **Stop** or press <kbd>Escape</kbd> to cancel.
5. Choose **Terminal view** to hand the provider session back to the terminal.

> **Note:** Claude Code is enabled by default in the provider list. You must enable ACP chat yourself; Antigravity cannot be enabled.

> **Limit:** Switching during an open turn can be refused or require confirmation. Shell and Custom presets use framed chat instead. The ACP adapter requires a supported runtime.
