# Nudge a selection

Move selected nodes by grid cells with the arrow keys.

When the canvas has focus, arrow keys move selected nodes by grid cells. If nothing is selected, the same keys pan the view.

## Nudge nodes

1. Select one or more nodes and make sure the canvas has focus.
2. Press an arrow key to move the selection one grid cell.
3. Hold <kbd>Shift</kbd> with an arrow key to move five grid cells.

> **Tip:** A series of nudges made within 600 milliseconds is grouped into one undo step.

> **Limit:** <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>, <kbd>Cmd</kbd>, and <kbd>Alt</kbd> do not change the nudge distance. Arrow-key panning is navigation and is not undoable.
