# Configure agent launch presets

Choose a built-in agent, shell, or custom command and adjust how its node launches.

A launch preset chooses the program MAO starts in a terminal node. You can change the preset or its options later without replacing the node.

## Set up a terminal or agent

1. Choose **New terminal or agent**, or press <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> + <kbd>T</kbd> on Windows/Linux or <kbd>Cmd</kbd> + <kbd>T</kbd> on macOS.
2. Choose **Shell**, a listed provider, or **Custom**.
3. Complete the setup sheet and place the node on the canvas.
4. To change a running node, choose **Configure** on its node bar or **Change preset** in its menu.
5. Edit the name, model, account, role, Orchestrator setting, or **Launch options**, then save.

> **Note:** Changing a preset restarts the terminal process while keeping the node identity and bridge credentials.

> **Limit:** MAO starts a program with an explicit command and arguments in the project root. Custom commands are not run through a shell. MAO passes provider flags but does not edit provider configuration; reserved arguments are rejected.
