# Claude Code, Codex, Grok—and the terminals you already use.

MAO does not make you choose a single provider. It gives each coding agent its own live terminal node, account, role, and place in the work so you can use the right agent for each part of a build.

## Bring your own agent

Run Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Antigravity, OpenCode, or a plain shell. MAO works around the CLIs and accounts you already use.

## Separate accounts per node

Two nodes can run the same agent with different logins: the CLI's own login, a second login, an API key, or an Anthropic-compatible endpoint such as z.ai. Keep work and personal accounts apart.

## Reusable roles

Describe how an agent should work once in Markdown, then assign that role to any node. Builder and Reviewer ship built in; write your own tester, researcher or docs writer beside them.

## A visible multi-agent workflow

See what every agent is doing, where a hand-off leads, and which terminal needs a decision. You keep control without collapsing the work into one chatbot conversation.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does MAO support Gemini CLI?

Yes. Gemini CLI is a built-in agent in MAO, with its own tile in the agent sheet. It needs Gemini CLI 0.41 or later, and MAO says which version it found when yours is older.

### Can I run a coding agent that MAO doesn't list?

Yes. When you create a terminal in MAO, choose **Custom** and enter the program and its arguments; MAO starts it in the project root, not through a shell. You can also choose **Shell** and start the agent yourself.

### Do I need Claude Code or Codex installed to use them in MAO?

Yes. MAO runs each agent's own CLI, so the agent must be installed on the machine where its terminal starts, and the terminal tells you when it is not. On a remote server, and on Windows for Claude Code, Codex, Grok and Antigravity, **Install** runs the agent maker's own installer for you.

### Can MAO resume a Claude Code session after a restart?

Yes. When you reopen or restart a Claude Code, Codex or Grok node, MAO resumes the session it recorded for that node. If the resume fails, you can choose **Start fresh** or **Resume by ID**.
